Shopping at the highest level

Never been so busy for the last years. But I guess setting up a new life somewhere else then home takes som time. Things has been great, yet busy. Our last trip to New York was a total disaster, in a positive way of course. We shopped like maniacs and some sale was going on, I dont know why buy hey, who cares..

Lots of shoes that you could not get in Europe and London were there to be found and purchased. My wife went totally nutts and got her self 10 pair of shoes, 3 of them were sneakers that were so cheap that she could not resist the temptation.

Denim from the most famous brands were also very cheap and especially from Armani. I also bought a mens leather jacket for a really good price. I saw the same jacket at www.leather-wear.co.uk but the price was 20% cheaper, although they did not have the colour that I originally saw on the website..

Anyhoos, I gotta run now. We are about to purchase a car and Im about to see one now !

New york New york

Heading for New york and I simply love it. I have read at a lot about this great city but I have never been there. First reason for going there is shopping. Since the dollar sucks it isfairly easy for Europeans to go shopping in the US. Famous brands like Ralph Lauren and other cost a third of what they usually cost back home. I just booked a hotel in Manhattan and that was expensive, which is the only thing bad about this city, hotel rates are ski high and quality wise I dont think that they are that great.

Im going to look for sneakers and jeans as well. I thought about buying 6 pair of sneakers and the same with jeans. Armani jeans are pretty cheap, in other words cheaper then back home where you end up paying something like 100 dollar for the pair which is fairly cheap.

I will be catching a direct flight from Dubai and I will be there in 12 hours which is not that bad although it is only 6 hours to Bangkok which is also a great place for shopping….

That was it for this time I gotta buy a big suitcase..

Dubai Dubai

Just got to Dubai and it is really hot here. The weather is humid and I was warned about that, but did not think that it was to that extent.. Started at my new job and It is actually going really well. I have arranged for the apartment and just awaiting my lovely gf Jeanette to get here so she can furnish the apartmentas she likes. Lots of furniture shops here but not that many or none online furnish shops, which sux a bit…

We are going to need practically everything from bed to sofa… Luckily the apartment that we have got has all the kitchen appliances and no need to drive around to get that. I have not recieved my drivings license and that is why I find it really hard to move around here. Taxis are very cheap but try getting one is a total different matter that can take several hours. I got to experience that the first day where I had to wait for over an hour in the sun wearing a black suit, not nice

anyway I gotta run.. I will write some more later on.

Typcial european weather

People are back from holidays, vacations and starting to work again. The street are full of cars again.. The cool thing for those who have not had their vacation is that the prices are pretty much lower on trips to different places in Europe in August. You can most likely get a trip to Spain or Greece for less then 200£ and that includes the flight and the hotel.

On the other hand August is the best month when it comes to the weather in Europe and I dont want to leave the country when the weather is good. So it kind of a dilemma. I rather save the money and have the trip between November and March where the weather really SUX.

For the last 4 years we have been travelling in the winter and it is really great to leave the country when it is cold

Olympic games

Now, usually Im not into the olympic games but I still enjoy watching some football, Basketball and other ball sports. This time is different and I dont know why, maybe it is because the whole thing is in China and when I get back from work then it is midnight in China. Watching things in replay does not attract me..

But the olympic games have inspired me and I have started jogging and I hate it so much but that is the only way for me to get some exercise. I have bought some nice running shoes, Brooks Adrenaline GTS 7 and this time I got the size right . I have tried running with these Brooks Adrenaline GTS 7 shoes and they are really comfortable, even though they were totally new where usually It takes me a couple of days before they fit in. Yesterday while running it was almost like th sky opened up and started to rain heavily. At first, I wanted to hide and seek some shelter but I was in the middle of a park and hiding under a tree is not the best option. Therefore I just decided to keep running and of course i was soaking wet when I got back home. Amazingly my new Brooks Adrenaline kept my feet dry and warm

Sorry for not writing

Well, it feels like it was 100 years ago that I was online. I enjoy surfing and writing for that matter as well. Lately we have been busy packing and getting ready to move to an another apartment. We put some of our furniture for sale (online) and faster then we could expect everything was sold (except for our lovely sofa table that we actually refused to sell). So our apartment is practically empty now but we still have lots of small things that need to be packed. The new apartment is in the downtown area and we have guy paiting it for us and a new kitchen will be installed this thursday, I hope . You know how it is with this kind of workers, they tell you one week when you make the order but in reality it will take more then 3 weeks. But we do have a great advantage and that is that my girlfrieds father has his own company with lots of workers that can help us out. He had a german guy that makes kitchens for a reasonable price and that is where we ordered our kitchen.

My parents in law where also with us this weekend and while working my father in law cut himself so I had to drive him to the hospital, 4 stiches

Airlines going bankrupcy?

Emirates has launched their new airplanes with shower space areas, yes showers in the air plane, crazy huh ! In the same time lots of other air carriers are fighting for their survival. Ryanair is one of them as it is showing 50 Mill deficit, for the first time ever.

I understand that the Emirates are doing well because more then 50% of the costs of having a plane in the air is related to the fuel. Emirates have covered themselves since they own the oil, which is really smart. I one flew with the Emirates and I have to admit, it was a pleasent surprice. On the way down there I flew business class, WOW! On the way back it was Economy but still very good. Very convinient with lots of attention from the staff which is great.

The hottest weekend ever

Passing 30 C this weekend was incredibly hot. At home we started our annual clean up of clothes and furniture that we are not using. My girlfriend has the latest women fashion clothes and I myself do have a couple of things that I am not using anymore, including my dear beloved designer sneakers. I have so many designer sneakers and some of them are pretty old but yet in a good shape. I refuse to throw them out and since we are moving pretty soon it is going to be hard and expensive to take everything with us. When it comes to furniture we have bought a lot of designer furniture from different online furniture shops.. Anyway I have just spent some time selling some of our furniture on the internet, hopefully we can sell it for a reasonable price..

Great Weather huh ..

Great weather is something of rariety now a days. Al though due to global warming the cold winter has transformed into a more humid one, which is hight appreciated but I keep wondering; what are the long termm consequences?

Areas like Africa are getting hotter and with no rain the poor africans or ont he edge of starvation. Other colder places like the Scandinavian countries are experiencing hotter summers and the winters are also getting more human.

Since I have a past in the travel/leisure industry I keep reading the news to see if domestic turism is growing, and guess what? It is… since the weather is getting better in the colder countries people are more then willing to stay at home. Trips to the sun have also fallen when it comes to prices since people as I mentioned before are staying in their countries.

I am not a big fan of destinations like Mallorca, Crete and so on.. Cities packed with drunk english and germans do not attract me at all.. My favourite spot on earth is Koh hai in Thailand.. A relaxing island far away from the traffic and other annoying things that you do not need while having your vacation. They have a website, check it out here

Last weekend ..

Last weekend was a relaxing one, although I had to drive 5 hours each way to meet my parents in law. The cool thing about being at the parents in law is that they treat you like a king. The father is the coolest guy on earth, really a relaxing one .. We watched some pics and some videofilms that they took in Thailand (they just came back from a round trip in Thailand). The funniest thing is that they travelled with some light bags and came back with some excess luggage of 40 kg and I know why ha ha ..

Walking into these shopping centers in Bangkok is like a disease. The variety of clothing and other stuff is huge. Prices are 40-50% cheaper then in Europe. You can get all the fake goods as well but be prepared to wear them not more then a couple of months and then just throw them out..

Last time we visitid Thailand I ordered three custom suits and I simply love them. Everyone telling you that you can get a suit for not more then 100 USD which is true but do not expect any good quality. The reason why I like custom suits is that you really get what you want and that makes me feel comfortable. One more important reason why I always buy custom made suits is that I have long arms and therefore it is not easy for me to find fitted suits with long arms.

Last time we visited Bangkok it was around xmas and new years evening and I got to tell you that my girlfriend went nutts of all sale going on. Her favourite brand “DKNY” had 50-70% sale so that was pretty cool.
